We always like to come up with something completely new to show off for The Experimental Food Society Spectacular. This year we no exception. We designed and built a completely new system for smoking liquids which looks like nothing you have ever seen before. The result: woodsmoked liqueurs using a variety of woods. We made limited edition batches of oak smoked blackberry and ginger; cherry smoked strawberry and chocolate; and maple smoked lime and juniper liqueur. The limited edition smoked liqueurs were available to taste and to buy all weekend along with the wonderful steampunk smoking contraption bubbling away on display.
Unfortunately in the hustle and bustle of over serving over 2000 visitors in a single weekend we didn’t manage to get any photos of our beautiful contraption. But here is an earlier prototype out on a trial run, along with some cubes of solid smoke, at the Sensation Festival in Chelmsford a few weeks earlier. The contraption is still available for events although due to the volume of smoke produced it is strictly for outdoor events only.
